New In Makeup: January 2017

New In Makeup: January 2017
January always seems to be the time I make a few major changes to my makeup collection. Perhaps it's because Christmas has just passed or because I'm making a fresh start for 2017, but I wanted to showcase a handful of products that are new in to my collection and I have been loving!

The Products

Clinique Superbalanced Foundation

If you're a long-time reader of my blog, you may remember that I featured the Clinique Superbalanced Foundation in my first ever post. It was my first ever foundation aged 13 and one that I keep coming back to whenever I need a good all-rounder that I can put my trust in. One of the few foundations I've used without SPF, it's great for nights out and general photography and filming. It gives great coverage and lasts all day, evening my skin tone and giving a beautiful satin finish. Clinique have actually just released a silk version of this foundation, so I'd be interested to try that and see how they compare.

bareMinerals Invisible Light Translucent Powder Duo

Will kindly bought this for me for Christmas (with a little hinting) as I'd been wanting to try it for ages. I was hoping it would be an alternative to the Hourglass Ambient Lighting powders but, having not tried them, I can't say for sure. It comes with two translucent powders- a matte powder and a glow powder- for setting base products (contrary to what I said in my recent video, the glow powder is not intended as a highlight).

Though the lasting power and pigmentation doesn't match up to my Rimmel Stay Matte, the finish these give is phenomenal. They make makeup look so natural and flawless and the glow side gives a real glow-from-within. I enjoy using both sides together; matte through my t-zone where I get most oily and glow on the high points of my face.

ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip in Kae

I received my first ColourPop products from my parents for Christmas and have fallen head over heels for them in the last month or so! The first is their Matte Lip in Kae, which I like to say looks like chocolate smeared over my lips- in the classiest way possible, of course. It dries quickly to a beautiful matte finish with just enough time to work it over the lips and the doe-foot applicator makes it all so easy (with a bit of concentration I can even skip on the lip liner).

ColourPop Metallic Lip in Maneater

ColourPop's Metallic Lip has to be my favourite though. I picked out the shade Maneater, mostly because it looks like pure rose gold on the lips, and have been rocking it at every evening event since. Again, it dries quickly to a comfortable metallic finish and isn't sticky in the slightest. It's so ridiculously pigmented and such a novel product line from ColourPop.
