Lady Business:
On graduating

Last year 777,000 students graduated from UK universities. That’s 777,000 final hand-ins, 777,000 mortar boards flung in the air and 777,000 job hunters entering the market…From the rose-tinted perspective I’ve seen on Instagram, it seems that everyone and their dog managed to bag a place on a FTSE 500 graduate scheme with minimal hassle but anecdotally and statistically (the UK’s top 100 graduate employers only hired 20,000 graduates between them in 2018) I know this simply isn’t the case.
